Objecting to or supporting a planning application
If we notify you, or you find out through other means, about an application for planning permission for a development proposal near to your property you will need to consider whether you wish to comment on the proposal. The process gives you an opportunity to consider the effect the proposal may have upon your property.
The proposal may have a major, minor or insignificant effect on your property. The effects may be positive, negative or a combination of both. In some cases the prospect of a new development close to someone’s home can be quite unsettling. It is important to remember that the Planning system operates in the public interest - it seeks to control new development to ensure the best outcome for the wider community.
If you are a neighbour of a planning application site or a local resident you may have been informed about it by letter from the Planning Department or have seen the proposal advertised on the site or in a local newspaper. If you have views for or against a planning application proposal you can submit them to the Council.
