Anti Social Behaviour - Our Commitment To You

Minimum Standards

Richmond is the safest borough in London.  However that doesn’t mean that there aren’t occasional problems with crime and anti social behaviour.  This guide is our way of telling you what we will do if you happen to be experiencing anti social behaviour.

Anti social behaviour (ASB) services are delivered in Richmond by the Community Safety Partnership.  This is a group made up of police; council officers; housing providers and other professionals.  We work together to pool expertise and resources to deal with any problems that occur.

We take all reports of ASB seriously and will work together to investigate all such reports.  We call these ‘reports’ rather than ‘complaints’.  You would therefore make a report of anti-social behaviour to alert us to a situation so that we can deal with it and a complaint if you were not happy at the way we dealt with the issue.

You can report ASB by telephone to a member of the Partnership, or by email or letter.  Many of the partners also have public access in their offices, so you can report problems in person.  If you are unsure how to do this please contact the Community Safety Team at the Council who will be happy to advise you.

Once we receive your report a member of the most relevant partner will contact you – usually within 48 hours of us receiving your report.  They will discuss your report with you and advise you of what we propose to do.

They will also keep you informed over the course of our investigation and will consult with you about any action we propose to take.

We will also publicise our work to the whole community so that people know that there are people working on your behalf to deal with problems.  In publicising our work we will maintain confidentiality about specific incidents.

We will attend community events where we will be happy to explain the work of the Partnership.  We will publish annual reports which will tell the community what we have done and what we plan to do.  We will also use local media and Partners newsletters etc to report on the work of the Partnership.

Complaints:

We hope that people are happy with our work.  However we acknowledge that this will not always be the case.  If you are unhappy you have the right to make a formal complaint to the heads of the Partnership.

They will take your complaint seriously and investigate your complaint.  Full details on our formal complaints procedure(pdf, 50KB)
