RISE events

RISE events are held to highlight the inclusive and disability specific sports and exercise activities that are available in the borough and surrounding area.

The seventh RISE event took place on Saturday 8 October 2011 at Teddington Sports Centre. There were many activities on offer including golf, wheelchair basketball, badminton, dance and trampolining. Over 70 participants enjoyed the variety of activities on offer and the chance to find out about activities that run locally. All the activities were run by local coaches and instructors. The day was supported with some great volunteers, including some fom Kingston University Students Union.

The event was run by the Sports Development Team to promote the inclusive and disability specific activities that are available in the borough.

The next RISE event will be held on Saturday 19 May 2012, 9.30am-2.30pm at Shene Sports and Fitness Centre.

RISE to Shine

This year the Sports Development Team have started a new RISE project - RISE to Shine. This is a project to get young people, who live or go to school in the borough, involved in the London Youth Games. Every year over 50,000 young people from the 33 London boroughs compete against each other in over 30 different sports. There are disability sports included in the competition and we are looking for athletes to compete for Team Richmond. You can find more details about the ongoing RISE to Shine opportunties on our Disability and inclusive activities page.

Sports Camps 2012
