Healthy cooks courses
Our Richmond Nutrition team offers the Healthy Cooks programme to targeted families with children living in Richmond.
Purpose
To increase healthy cooking skills and knowledge, increase confidence in cooking, encourage home cooking from scratch using a wider range of foods, increase awareness and understanding of healthy eating and how to create healthy, balanced meals for the family, cook and taste new foods and have fun!
Who is it for?
- Parents and carers of families living in the borough
and
- Whose children access Richmond’s primary schools
and
- Ethnic minority families
- Travellers
- Asylum seekers
- Families with special needs
- Families (including Dads) on a low income
- Teenage parents
- Families needing support to learn English as an additional language
- Looked after children with their carers
Course content
Five weeks based on themes – 2 hours per session
- Sauces – for pasta recipes and salads
- Curries – spicy and hot vegetarian and chicken recipes with side dishes
- Fish – delicious healthy fish and chips, fish pie and kedgeree
- Mince – vegetarian and low fat meat recipes
- Fruit – baking with fruit for healthy snacks and desserts
