Go local for the Jubilee

As the Diamond Jubilee fast approaches residents are being encouraged to ‘go local’ and explore 500 years of Richmond’s royal past at Orleans House Gallery.

Over 2000 people have already visited the Royal Connections exhibit since its opening on 17 April. On display is fine art from the Borough’s own collection, as well as external loans from the prestigious Phillip Mould Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. Visitors also have a chance to see plenty of nostalgia from the 60 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II including footage of the coronation.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council’s Strategic Cabinet Member for Communities, Business and Culture, said

“What better way to celebrate the Jubilee than to visit Royal Connections. The exhibition has unique fine art, memorabilia and footage on display showcasing this Borough’s royal history.”

“It will give a local touch to any Jubilee celebrations so encourage everyone to make a trip to Orleans House Gallery.”

The Royal Connections exhibition finishes Sunday 17, June 2012. For more information please visit: www.richmond.gov.uk/arts/.
