Richmond's registration services go online
Richmond Council’s registration services are now available on the council website, increasing convenience for local residents and other customers in the latest example of key services moving online.
Customers can now make a range of Register Office bookings, applications and payments online, enabling then to make their arrangements from the comfort of their own home, office or smart phone.
Under the new service, customers can now do the following via the redesigned Registration Services section of the council website:
- Book appointments online including the registration of births, deaths and notices of intention
- Book and pay for wedding and civil partnership ceremonies online
- Apply for and purchase replacement certificates online
- Access redesigned web content and contact forms
The new online Registration Services are part of the Council’s wider plan to improve communication channels for customers, deliver significant savings for council taxpayers and improve efficiency.
Customers were previously limited to a telephone service that operated only between 9am and 4pm and was restricted to two lines. All telephone calls have now been transferred to the Council’s contact centre, and residents have the flexibility of accessing the website 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Commenting on the new online services, Cllr Virginia Morris, Strategic Cabinet Member for Environment, Planning, Parks and Highways, said:
“The new online registration services will increase convenience for our customers, and this is part of a wider move by Richmond Council to make more customer services available online. This not only increases convenience for residents but also improves efficiency and saves a significant amount of council taxpayers’ money.
For those customers who are not regular internet users, registration services arrangements can still be made on the telephone via the council’s contact centre.”
