Purchased graves

If a new private grave is required for burial, you can purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial for a period of fifty years. The owner of these Rights has the automatic right to be buried in the grave (space permitting). All memorial work must be approved by the owner.

Following the first burial, a Deed will be issued to the owner. It should be kept in a safe place, as it will be needed if a further burial or transfer of ownership is required.

Graves can not be purchased in advance, although you can reserve a grave for five years. The current fees can be found by viewing our fees pages.

If the owner dies, no further burials or memorial works can take place until a new owner is registered. Please see our information pages on how a transfer of grave ownership can be completed.
