About the Adoption Service
The next Adoption Information Evening will be on Wednesday 31 March, 7pm - 9.30pm – contact the Adoption Team for details.
Welcome to Richmond Adoption Service! The Richmond Adoption Team is a small and experienced team of people working together to provide children who are in the care of children’s services with adoptive families. We offer an open and supportive service and do not have blanket rules about who can or cannot adopt.
So what is adoption? Adoption is a way of providing new families for children who cannot be brought up by their birth family. Adoption is a life long commitment in which parental responsibility for a child is transferred to the adoptive parents. Adoption provides legal security for a child and also gives a child a very real sense of belonging to a new family.
We need people from all walks of life to come forward as adoptive parents and offer a loving and permanent home to children who have had a very difficult start in life. Adoption is a big step with many challenges along the way but it can also bring enormous rewards. The Richmond Adoption Service will provide you with the information and support you need to decide if adoption is right for you.
