Wellesley Road / Tower Road, Twickenham - Temporary overnight road closure
PUBLIC NOTICE 2012 NO. 1217
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1)
Temporary overnight road closure, Wellesley Road / Tower Road, Twickenham
Monday 6 to Tuesday 7 August 2012
1.The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate essential level crossing works maintenace works they have made a temporary Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a road closure at the level crossing in Wellesley Road / Tower Road, Twickenham.
2.Whilst the works take place no person may permit a vehicle to proceed across the level crossing at Strawberry Hill station – that is from the junction of Wellesley Road with Popes Avenue to the junction of Tower Road with Strawberry Hill Road.
3.Whilst Wellesley Road, Twickenham is closed, an alternative route for eastbound traffic will be via Hampton Road, The Green, Twickenham, Heath Road and Cross Deep. An alternative route for westbound traffic will be as above but in the reverse direction.
4.The order comes into effect at 11.30pm on Monday 6 August 2012. The works are anticipated to be in progress until 5.00am on Tuesday 7 August 2012. However, the order will remain in force for a period of 3 months, to allow for unexpected events and possible remedial works.
5.The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.
6.Nothing in the Order applies to:
(a)any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b)anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a traffic warden.
7.Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
