Charles Street, Barnes - Temporary road closure and waiting restrictions

PUBLIC NOTICE 2012 NO. 1244

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1)

Temporary road closure and waiting restrictions, Charles Street, Barnes

20 – 31 August 2012

1.The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate works for drainage connections to a new development at Nos 42-44 Charles Street they have made a temporary Order, the effect of which is to introduce a road closure and waiting restrictions in Charles Street, Barnes

2.Whilst the works take place no person may permit a vehicle to proceed in Charles Street between a point outside the common boundary of Nos 40 and 42 Charles Street and its junction with Cross Street where relevant signs and/or cones are placed.

3.Whilst Charles Street, Barnes is closed, an alternative route for eastbound traffic will be via White Hart Lane and Thorne Street.  An alternative route for westbound traffic will be as above but in the reverse direction.

4.The order will come into effect on 20 August 2012.  The works are anticipated to be in progress for a period of 2 weeks, i.e. until 31 August 2012. The order will remain in force for a period of 3 months, to allow for unexpected events and possible remedial works.

5.The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.

6.Nothing in the Order applies to:

(a)any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works or any public service or utility vehicle;

(b)anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a traffic warden.

7.Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.
